Located on the south east coast of the lively Kos in Greece, Kardamena is a small yet lively resort attracting hundreds of tourists every year. Beautiful natural surroundings, warm and hospitable people and a buzzing nightlife are some of the island's highlights. Once a small fishing village, Kardamena holidays have significantly grown into a major tourist hub best-known for its beautiful beaches and ancient monuments, some of which go back to the times of the Greeks.

Medieval castles and fortresses grace the island, while at the heart of the old town you'll find the tree of the Hippocrates, where the physician traditionally taught medicine. Aside from a lesson in history, the island holds rich rewards for beach lovers. Located nearby to Kos Town is the main Kardamena beach, boasting 3km of soft sands, a huge choice of watersports and nearby amenities for visitors - if you prefer to sunbathe in peace, neighbouring Banana Beach is more secluded with fantastic sand dunes backing the beach.

In the evening, indulge in traditional Mediterranean cuisine at Fat Olive, Ariadni Restaurant, The Garden and other eateries located in the harbour, before heading out to explore the island's rich nightlife. Outside of Kos Town, Kardamena is the liveliest holiday spot, with partygoers flocking to enjoy a full line-up of cocktail bars and clubs in Bar Street. Plan relaxing days spent on the sand, daytrip to the gorgeous island of Nisyros – where you can discover the volcanic village of Nikia – or head to the main squares for shopping stalls selling souvenirs and local goods. Whatever you decide, your holidays to Kardamena will be packed full of fun.

Places to go and things to do in Kardamena

Kardamena Coast

Kardamena Coast

The sea is warm, the sand is golden and the young fun-seekers are out in force. Kardamena has over 3km of sand to its name, so if the beach in the centre is looking a bit busy when you emerge from your hotel, you can always find a quieter stretch to set up your sunlounger on.

Buzzing Bar Street

The aptly named Bar Street hints at what you can expect from Kardamena's nightlife. Loud, pumping music, dozens of drinks offers and packs of partying pals looking for the next cocktail bar are the order of the day (and night) here. Crossroads Bar is a big favourite with the Brit crowd and Downtown Club will have you dancing till dawn.

Set Sail To Nisyros

It’s not a holiday in Kardamena unless you hop on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour. Zeus Boat Trips are a tourist favourite for their visits to secluded bays where you can swim, snorkel and enjoy a BBQ. You can also visit neighbouring islands by boat, including the volcanic island of Nisyros.

Bike Rides Around Kos

For a change of pace and a challenge, why not go on a guided mountain bike tour around Kardamena? If two wheels don’t appeal, try Rafael’s Trail Riding, which offers mountain trails for everyone from beginners to experienced horse riders. Go at sunset for stunning views and a cooler, more comfortable experience.
