This charming small town is just 20-minutes drive away from the capital Rhodes, and only 4.5 km away from the vibrant resort of Faliraki. It’s an ideal destination for families and couples looking for a quaint beach sojourn.
This laid-back destination makes for a peaceful base on your holidays to Greece. Situated on the northeast coast of island capital Rhodes, you’ll be met by a slow pace which serves up spring waters at the spa, lovely stretches of beach and hidden coves, and plenty of historic landmarks to sightsee. Kallithea Springs is a big draw in this resort, this ancient point of interest known since the Twenties for its therapeutic properties and healing waters – unfortunately the spa itself is no longer in action, but the beautiful gardens and buildings have been restored and remain a spectacle worth ticking off.
The resort itself has a small sand and shingle beach equipped with sun loungers, or there’s a small beach area below the spa too which charges three Euros for a day’s entry. Since the footfall is relatively low in these quaint coves, solo travellers and couples love these more secluded spots. While you’re here, be sure to snorkel in the underwater caves on this near-private stretch, where if you’re lucky you can spot octopuses!
Want to explore the surrounding area? There are plenty of day trips to be had with many neighbouring resorts easily accessed from Kallithea – most notably being the UNESCO-listed Rhodes Town. Getting Around
Kallithea is well connected by the bus service through the Rhodes Town. There are two bus terminals providing regular transport across the island. But there are not many services on Saturday and Sundays. Tourists can get the schedules from Greek National Tourist Organisation (EOT) office or from the kiosks at the terminals. Kalithea Thermi bus stand is connected to the Rhodes Airport by the Eastern Bus Terminal.

Scuba Dive In Kallithea Bay
The village square is where all the action happens in this quaint resort. Oozing authenticity, the cobbled white-washed streets are everything you’d expect them to be and more – from traditional fabric shops with colourful rugs hanging in the shop front, to pretty churches, family-run tavernas and dainty coffee shops with alfresco seating. The beach is easy to reach from here, particularly in the summer months when the “Happy Train” - a little blue tourist train - runs from the town square to the sand and pebble stretch.
Visit Koskinou
Bus services connect Kallithea to Koskinou, a delightful vintage locale up the hill. Think white-washed squares with a backdrop of contrasting blue skies, and houses with colourfully painted doors – and that’s what Koskinou looks like. A must visit is the traditional house - with ceramic tiles and woven fabrics. Additionally, visit the Blue Flag Certified Reni Beach, which is 2.5km from the village and offers up watersports and sunbathing facilities.

Roam Anthony Queen Bay
Faliraki is a stones’ throw away from Kallithea, and from here you can take a ride to the famous Anthony Quinn Bay. This quaint cove on the east coast of Rhodes is named after the Hollywood Star, who starred in The Guns of Navarone, which was partly filmed on this beach. This pretty bay is backed by cliffs and boasts golden sand and shingles which is lapped by emerald-green waters – which are impossible not to swim, splash and snorkel in! It’s so clear, even the coral reefs below are visible. Before you leave spend a little time in Faliraki, dotted with care-free bars, souvenir shops and more.
