Located in the southwest coast of Florida, Sarasota holidays offer a laid-back atmosphere with opportunity for plenty of exploration. From recreational watersports to awe-inspiring excursions and famous surrounding islands – this slice of the USA is sure to impress.

With palm-lined beaches that overlook the Gulf of Mexico, holidays to Sarasota promise paradise. Known as the Cultural Coast of Florida, this part of the west coast is home to a blend of artists, music, theatre and galleries, serving up something interesting for everyone who visits - the Sarasota Opera, Florida Studio Theater, Asolo Rep Theater and the Sarasota Ballet are a few popular haunts here.

One of the star attractions however is Siesta Key; just a short distance from Downtown Sarasota, Siesta Key is a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico and is proud owner of one of the most beautiful beaches in the nation – making a fantastic day trip to take the kids on. Similarly, you’ve got Longboat Key and Lido Key, each easily reached from the town and well worth a day trip to. Equally, a fun day out with the kids can be had at Myakka River State Park with an abundance of entertainment and experiences available for nature lovers, from boat tours and camping to mountain biking, with cafes, restaurants and playgrounds too. In the evening, explore the resort’s waterfront tiki bars, live music and rum taverns Downtown, or if you’re in the Keys, Siesta Key Village is where to head when the sun sets.

You’ll be met by an abundance of gorgeous beaches when you visit Sarasota, so there’s sure to be one that suits everyone. Siesta Key has been voted the number one beach in the US twice, and with its endless powder-white sands it’s pretty easy to see why – this beach is ideal if you want to make it a day affair, with watsersports, beach games and a playground, BBQ grills and seafront snacks, shower facilities and more. Equally you’ve got family-friendly Lido Beach, Venice Municipal Beach which is popular for its colourful coral reef and Turtle Beach, serving up some of the tallest sand dunes in the region with natural lagoons nearby too.
