If you want the beaches of the Red Sea without the nightlife, the Taba coastline, on Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, is just what you’re looking for. In the area’s main resort, Taba Heights, the low key vibe and less crowded beaches mean your holiday will be all about chilling out. Quieter doesn’t come at the price of quality though; the hotels here are up to the high standards we Brits expect in Egypt.
Taba Heights hotels are beachside and have private areas of sand meaning it’s a matter of just popping back and forward from hotel to beach as you please when you fancy a poolside lunch or a cheeky siesta in the heat of the afternoon! The white sands and turquoise waters on this coastline are amongst the most pristine in Egypt.
Whether you want to get PADI qualified or just do a bit of light snorkelling, you’re in the right place. There are only a few diving boats operating in Taba Heights, including those from the popular Red Sea Water World. Elsewhere on the Taba coastline, deserted bays and lagoons are underwater treasure troves of marine life.
Taba Heights is home to an upmarket golf course and is a mecca for people who have to pack their clubs when they go away. And if playing golf in the desert against a mountain backdrop with stunning sea views wasn’t unique enough, there’s also the fact that you can see the coastlines of Jordan and Israel from the greens.
Don’t just stick to the sand on the beach on your Taba holiday. Taba Heights is only half an hour’s drive away from Taba Airport. If you haven’t arranged a private transfer you can pick up a taxi at the airport, but agree the fee in advance and be aware the driver will ask for payment in sterling or euros. If you’re staying in Taba Heights, your hotel is unlikely to be more than a few steps from the beach and most dining and entertainment is hotel based and hassle free.
British citizens need a visa to travel to Egypt, however if you’re travelling to Taba, Sharm el Sheikh, Dahab or Nuweiba, and are staying less than 15 days, you can get a free entry permission stamp on arrival. Your passport should have 6 months validity from arrival date.
