Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka, is fast becoming one of the most desirable places to visit and is on many people’s bucket lists for 2026 and beyond. Here are some of the things we think you should check out while on Colombo holidays.

Gangaramaya Temple
Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most important and well-known Buddhist temples in Colombo. The temple dates back to the late 19th century and was established by Venerable Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera. Not just a place of worship, Gangaramaya also serves as an important centre for Buddhist learning and a vital role in religious ceremonies and festivals. The temple complex includes a museum and a library that houses a vast collection of artefacts you can take a look at on your visit. Before visiting Gangaramaya Temple, it's advisable to check for any specific guidelines for visitors, opening hours, and the timing of special events or ceremonies. Remember to dress modestly and respectfully when entering religious sites in Sri Lanka.
