If you happen to have a particularly hip Dad, then the party resort of Ibiza would be an obvious destination to whisk him away to this year - but don't worry, there's plenty more to see and do besides drinking fishbowls in DC-10. In Santa Antonio Bay you'll find the famous Sunset Strip and a selection of super-chill bars, including The Cafe Del Mar. This popular hangout is best known for its cool compilations, which have graced the music scene since 1994 with the release of Cafe Del Mar Volume 1, so you can sit back and watch the sun set while listening to some of the best Balearic beats around, with a beer in hand, too. Ibiza Town is also a great spot to explore, its UNESCO-listed Heritage Site a sure bet with history lovers, and plenty of cool cafes, cathedrals and galleries to visit in the main square.
Where to stay: The Intertur Hawaii Ibiza Hotel is located close to the resort's entertainment and you can enjoy a half-board stay from just £199pp!
FOR SPORTY & ADVENTUROUS DADS
If you consider yourselves adrenaline junkies, there are plenty of exhilarating tours, activities and excursions you can book up as a surprise. The ruggedly gorgeous French island of Corsica offers exotic beach holidays amid a vibrant landscape worth exploring, with over 50 peaks that are perfect for hiking enthusiasts. Fancy something a little different? Sign up for an adventurous 3-day river rafting tour on the Klaralven River in Sweden, surrounded by serpentine trails and spectacular forest landscape - you can stop whenever you want for some wild camping. Or why not head to Crete and visit the Samaria Gorge National Park where you can hike, hop on a boat trip, hit "Sweetwater" beach or even brave a bungee jump?!
Where to stay: Catch a flight and stay in Klio Apartments for the weekend, it's just a stone's throw away from Kato Gouves beach.
FOR HISTORY LOVER DADS
For creative Dad's who fancy a little art and culture, a long weekend in Bruges is sure to tick all the boxes. Discover one of Europe's most beautiful and well-preserved medieval cities, where you'll find canal-lined streets, stunning architecture and superb cafes, bars and pubs at every turn. Rome is one the world's most significant historical destinations, with the 'Eternal City' boasting a treasure trove of landmarks, from the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain to the Sistine Chapel and the Pantheon - not to mention the jam-pack piazzas! Another Italian gem worth considering is Pompeii, where you can marvel over famous Mount Vesuvius, discover the Lost City or grab tickets for nearby Palamango to watch the Scafati basketball team in action.
Where to stay: Indulge in a weekend stay at The Independant Hotel from £202pp, just a short distance to the famous Trevi Fountain and Piazza de Spagna.
FOR BEER-SWILLING DADS
For those who can appreciate a good craft ale, Prague is renowned for having some of the best (and cheapest) beer in Europe. Spoil your Dad by taking him to Baráčnická Rychta, an atmospheric 19th century beer hall that serves a wide range of quality beer, including Svijanský and Pilsner Urquell. Why not go one step further and add a Czech beer tasting excursion to your holiday, where you can sample a variety of tasty beers and ales and learn from the connoisseurs. There's more to this beautiful city than booze though, the capital is brimming with baroque buildings, bustling squares, contemporary art and excellent dining opportunities.
Where to stay: Leave the hustle and bustle of Prague behind as you check into Hotel Galileo, a stylish venue just 15-minutes from the Old Town and Charles Bridge.
