RECREATING OUR HOLIDAY PHOTOS AT HOME: ORLANDO EDITION
Looking back through our photos in Florida, we decided to recreate some pictures we took in and around Universal in Orlando in front of a greenscreen as a lark.
A CORONAVIRUS TRAVEL UPDATE ON THE BALEARIC ISLANDS
What do you mean, where are the Balearic Islands? They’re right where we left them: in the Mediterranean off the coast of the Iberian Peninsula.
IT’S OFFICIAL: SPAIN HAS ANNOUNCED A FOUR-PHASE PLAN TO EASE CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS
Ryanair and EasyJet have announced to be resuming a percentage of flights from 1 July and 15 June, respectively. This is great news for British residents looking to travel to Spain, although the FCO travel advice still advises against all but essential international travel. Teletext Holidays is here to report on the current state of affairs in Spain, so you can make an informed decision about whether and when to travel.
WILL IT BE POSSIBLE TO TRAVEL TO GREECE THIS SUMMER
With various low cost airlines announcing they’ll start to resume some flights in June and July, Greece has also expressed its desire to reopen its borders to international tourists gradually from 1 July. Instead of going through an obligatory 14-day quarantine, tourists from the UK should prepare to be subjected to coronavirus testing.
IS IT SAFE TO TRAVEL TO TURKEY NOW?: CORONAVIRUS UPDATES
With EasyJet and Ryanair looking to resume a number of flights in June/July, things appear to be looking up for tourism in Turkey, and the local authorities hope to be able to welcome British tourists again by the end of July or August. That said, the FCO travel advice for British residents hasn’t changed to date, and there are a number of factors to consider before taking the decision to go on holiday to Turkey.
I am an American married to a British person. I grew up in the New York suburbs and went to university and law school in New York City. I came over to the UK with my law firm to do a two year stint in their London office - 22 years ago! I’ve since dropped working in law but have instead acquired a husband, two children and a dog. We live in North London near Hampstead Heath.
As a family of four (my husband, our 14-year-old boy/girl twins and me), we have travelled extensively in the USA and Europe as well as parts of South America, Asia and Africa.

There’s a Pinball Museum in New York City that is more fun than the average museum we’ve visited. Its vintage pinball machines are available for the whole family to play after you pay your admission entrance.

Dubai is a great family destination for winter sun. The flight is only seven hours, which may seem like a lot but comes with guaranteed warm weather in the winter. It’s warm, clean and safe. There’s also plenty to do for the kids, such as the waterparks and a desert safari - not to mention there’s a great choice of hotels and restaurants.
The summer is brutally hot in Dubai but you can find reasonable temperatures if you go out in the morning and the evenings; places are open later to accommodate the weather. There are also some great deals for a holiday to Dubai in the summer.
We love New York City. No other city has such a buzz. There is so much to do, from museums to theatre, and just walking around the city is a great way to explore it. We also use New York City as a great base for exploring the northeast coast of the USA, such as the historic city of Boston and the nation’s capital, Washington, DC.
We also love Barcelona in Spain. The weather is great for the most part and people have a laid back vibe. The food and the wine are excellent. Go up the coast to Costa Brava and you’ve got charming little towns with their own beaches. Go down the coast and the beaches are bigger. You also have PortAventura World, a theme park near Salou that has a water park and Ferrari World inside it.
We would all like to go to the Maldives for the sunshine and overwater bungalow experience. We would also love to do a road trip on Route 66 in the USA to see the small towns and all the wacky roadside attractions we have heard about.
