Tick off the Sights
You can’t fully appreciate a stay in Sousse if you don’t stroll around the major sights that it is home to - and a day wandering this historic city is a must. The Great Mosque and the Sousse Ribat are iconic landmarks worth seeing, while the views that await you at the top of the hill where the Kasbah sits are snapshot-worthy.
Say Hi to the Animals at Friguia Park
Found between Sousse and Port El Kantaoui, Friguia Park is full of creatures from the animal kingdom. From lions and flamingos to cheetahs and sealions, the park aims to protect endangered species and provides a wonderful place for them to live. Kids can ride on camels and donkeys, and you can also swim with dolphins!
Experience the Sunday Market
The souks in Sousse operate every day, but the Sunday market is an experience in itself. It’s the day when the locals come out to grab bargains, and in amongst the ceramics, carpets and leathers, you’ll see haggling for camels! You may not be in the market for a humped beastie, but you can still pick up some great deals.
Discover the Catacombs
Heading underground into mass burial tombs may not be for everyone, but if you have an interest in the subject, these catacombs are a must. Only a few areas of this underground labyrinth are open to the public, but you can visit the Archaeological Museum afterwards, where you see some artefacts that have been excavated.
