As a purpose-built resort on the Tunisian coast, Port El Kantaoui is a relative newcomer to the African holiday scene. Great Things to Do

If you’re looking for a more authentic Tunisian experience during your stay in shiny, new Port El Kantaoui (PEK), the Moorish charm of Sousse is minutes away.

Race around on a Jet-Ski

As with many beach holidays, watersports are easily found, and racing around off the coastline on a jet-ski is a great way to inject some thrills into your lazy days. Alternatively, if you’d like to avoid whizzing around in the heat, you could opt for a leisurely pedalo ride instead; just don’t forget yoursun hat!

Practise your Swing at El Kantaoui

You’ll find an expertly-designed golf course right in the heart of this modern resort, overlooking thesea. El Kantaoui Golf Course offers up 3 different courses, and caters for all abilities, meaning plenty of opportunity to practise your swing. Finish off with some lunch at the restaurant on site.

Drop Anchor and Scuba!

Head out on a boat trip from the PEK marina and drop anchor a little way from the shore, where you can snorkel and scuba to your heart’s content. The reefs and marine life here are abundantly beautiful, so it’d be a shame not to experience them. If you’d prefer to stay dry, glass bottom boats allow you to see the beauty from deck.

Stroll the Marina

The marina is a central part of this stunning resort, and is home to a purpose-built medina where you can haggle as you would in a medieval souk. Pick up some souvenirs, or grab a table at one of the local restaurants. As evening draws near, head for the Maison Des Jardins, where you can take your pick of a range of bars.

Getting Around

It’s easy to get around on foot, but there are various transport options available if you’d prefer to avoid it. Car hire is a great way of exploring independently, but taxis are also plentiful, cheap and metered. The local bus service is extensive, with louages – shared minibuses – taking you further if you like. There is also a family-friendly land train, known as the Noddy Train, which is great fun!

By Bus

The local bus service is excellent, and serves the Port El Kantaoui area as well as further afield. Travel is very inexpensive, and louages (minivans) are also available and incredibly cheap.

By Car

Driving in Tunisia is relatively easy, because roads are uncrowded and in good condition. You drive on the right hand side, so may need time to adjust. Hire costs and petrol prices are competitive, too.

Passports and Visas

You don’t need a visa to holiday in Tunisia, but passports should be valid for the duration of your visit. If you weren’t born in the UK, but are a UK citizen, further checks may be needed. Health and Safety

Make sure that you take out comprehensive travel insurance, and also have accessible funds, before you go to Tunisia, because medical treatment can be expensive and fees are needed up front. The EHIC isn’t valid. For more info, see www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/tunisia/health
