Great Things to Do

Hit the attractions of Orlando, take an airboat ride across the lake or explore the Old Town with its classic cars, retro rides and diners - it’s your call!

Ride the Antique Carousel

In the middle of the stylised Old Town you’ll find an antique fairground which will take you on a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Ride the carousel, smash it up on the dodgems, look out for miles at the top of the Ferris wheel and shoot ‘em up at the retro arcade! A refreshing change from the vast Orlando themeparks.

Check Out the Classic Cars

On Friday nights, classic muscle cars roll into town, and on Saturday evenings, it’s the turn of the pre-1975 retro classics. On arrival they rev their engines and cruise along the main road through the Old Town, so you can admire and photograph these American motors. There’s even live rock ‘n’ roll music as a backing track!

Grab a Burger at an Authentic Diner

Where better to order an all-American burger, with all the trimmings, than in one of Kissimmee’s All-American diners, such as A&W in the Old Town? Grab a booth and wash down your burger with a signature shake. Or hit Denny’s for a classic American breakfast – try the bite-sized Pancake Puppies, but be warned, they’re addictive!

Milk a Cow at Green Meadows

This petting farm is a perfect place to go if you need a break from the high-octane excitement of Orlando’s theme parks. There’s plenty of hands-on experience in store, including learning the art of milking a cow, plus pony rides, hayrides and a petting zoo. There’s also a picnic park, so you can eat outside in the sun.

Getting Around

For those planning to travel beyond the state, Greyhound buses are excellent. Hailing or booking cabs is easy, and they’re a convenient way to travel, although costs soon add up. The local bus service is regular and has plenty of routes, but only the Disney themeparks are connected. Hiring a car is the best way to get around the area, but if you want to explore the various trails, bicycles are also available.

By Bus

The bus service in and around Kissimmee is known as LYNX and has a range of routes and varying fares. A typical single journey will cost around $2. The 192 bus service connects to Disney but there’s no direct bus to other main themeparks.

By Car

Hiring a car is a must if you’re hoping to explore beyond the local area and hop between themeparks with ease. I-4 will be the road you’ll likely use, which gets you to Tampa and Orlando. Cars are usually automatic. Drive on the right.

Passports should adhere to US guidelines, so check them. For more information and advice, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/usa/entry-requirements or the Foreign Office at www.fco.gov.uk/en/
