Great Places to Visit

With a variety of resorts, there’s no shortage of things to do in Sharm. You can explore the 35kms of coastline, party in Na’ama Bay, explore the coral reef or climb a mountain!

Learn to Dive in a Coral Reef

If you’ve always fancied having a go with some scuba apparatus, learning to dive in the crystal clear Red Sea, where a stunning coral reef awaits, is a must. You can sign up to an accredited course to work towards your PADI qualification, and head for more advanced reefs and wrecks. Once qualified, you can dive again and again!

Live it Up in Na’ama Bay

By day, this lively resort is packed with holidaymakers topping up their tans and enjoying the watersports. At night, it morphs into a party town that revellers will love! For hard-core clubbers, Pacha is a must, although there are plenty of slightly tamer lounge bars where you can work your way through the cocktails list, too.

Barter for a Bargain

The authentic Sharm bazaars are well worth a visit – particularly those in the Old Market, which is crammed with everything from shisha pipes and jewellery to fabrics, spices and handbags. For a more modern shopping experience, head to the Soho Square mall where you’ll also find a skating rink, cinema and the famous fountains.

Quad Bike in the Desert

Book in for a quad bike safari in the desert at sunset and explore the dusty, desolate terrain that makes up the Sharm backdrop. For an additional treat, you could add on a traditional Bedouin dinner and show, complete with belly dancers and Arabic music, and even a camel ride if the quad ride wasn’t bumpy enough for you!

Getting Around

Taxis are readily available - while there should be a meter, it’s recommended to agree on a fare before you get in. There is also a fleet of reliable microbuses that run locals and tourists around the region, and other buses that go further. If you’re staying in Na’ama Bay, everything should be walkable. You can also hire quads, bikes and scooters but avoid the main roads because drivers can be reckless.

By Bus

Microbuses can be identified by their blue and white colour, and can be hailed by waving (or just looking!) at them. They’re cheap, and have fixed routes that will get you around Sharm easily.

By Car

It’s recommended to leave the driving licence at home and trust those who are experienced on Egypt’s roads. Stick to taxis and buses to get you from A to B, because the driving laws are very slack here.

Passports and Visas

You don’t need a visa for a holiday in Sharm lasting up to 15 days (but do need one for other areas of Egypt – so take note if you’re planning a trip to Cairo or Luxor). You will also need a valid passport with at least 6 months left on it.
