Children: What to pack
Resist the urge to let your child pack bulky belongings - you'll have their bag to lug as well as your own. Check what they may need to take on holiday before departure. Hefty items such as sports equipment and beach towels can usually be hired or bought abroad.
Holiday essentials
Extra T-shirts and tops for those regular clean-up sessions and a sturdy pair of sandals or trainers are musts for beach breaks. Pack at least one spare bathing suit too, so your child always has a dry one to change into. Also take:
- Your child's passport - they can't travel without one
- Plastic bags for dirty clothes, socks and towels
- Favourite nibbles for the outward journey
- A small daypack, containing high-factor sun cream, insect repellent and a hat
- A personal stereo, quiet computer game, puzzle or book
- A warm jumper if leaving/returning to the UK in winter
- A front carrier/nappies/changing mat/cold water sterilising tablets/socks/hat for babies
- Stick name labels inside your child's luggage
