Getting There and around Marmaris

There are plenty of frequent flights to Dalaman Airport, departing from all major UK airports. Dalaman is the gateway to this popular tourist region. It's about 75 miles from Dalaman to Marmaris – transfers take one or two hours.

It is likely that your all-inclusive resort will have a transfer waiting for you upon your arrival to whisk you away to your chosen resort, however you must check with your specific hotel to see if the transfer is part of their offer.

You could hire a car if you fancy exploring the local area or even further afield, cars can be hired at the airport or closer to your all-inclusive resort.
Ferries can also be caught to one of Turkey's other leading resorts, Bodrum.

Beaches in Marmaris

It is likely that your chosen all-inclusive resort has its own stretch of well-kept beach with watersports, sun loungers and umbrellas. If it doesn’t then do not let this put you off, as this holiday destination is packed with stunning stretches of golden sands and clear turquoise waters.

But there are so many popular stunning beaches to choose from - including the gorgeous one at Fethiye and one of the most beautiful bays of the Turkish coast, Gokova.
Olu Deniz is charming and relaxing and its 'Blue Lagoon' is one of the most famous beaches in Turkey.

Sightseeing in Marmaris

Why not take a little time away from your chosen all-inclusive resort to have a look around the historic sights in Marmaris. There is plenty to be seen from relaxing Turkish baths to the pine-covered hills that can be explored by foot or car. Book yourself onto a 4x4 jeep safari to explore Turkey’s local countryside with the help of an experienced tour guide.

Siliman Beach is lovely and the settlement of Selimiye is a lovely place to hang out drinking local wine, eating fresh fish and watching the sunset.
In Turunc, shop for local produce such as honey, garden thyme, and sage tea.

In Gokova, check out the clusters of picturesque wooden houses built in the two-storey Ottoman style.
After all that, recharge in a traditional 'hamam', or Turkish bath.

Eating and Nightlife in Marmaris

Your all-inclusive resort is likely to offer a wide range of local cuisine as well as the comforts of home so you can mix and match normally in buffet style.
Restaurants in Marmaris offer all kinds of cuisine from Chinese or French, to Indian and Italian and fast food.

The smarter restaurants are in the marina.
Marmaris is famed for its lively nightlife most of which is situated on Barlar Sokagi, 'Bar Street'. If you fancy something different than the norm then why not try a moonlight cruise accompanied with as much drink as you can handle.

Marmaris Shopping and Family Attractions

There is some brilliant shopping to be had in this beautiful holiday destination. Look out for the cheap but quality leather goods as well as rugs, Turkish delight, Meerschaum pipes, Alabaster chess sets, embroidery and inlaid wooden or Mother of Pearl boxes.
The biggest bazaar of the region is set in the municipality bazaar in Marmaris (Thursdays), while the Netsel Marina has some distinctly upmarket shops.

Your all-inclusive resort is likely to be decorated with local arts and crafts giving you a chance to see what they look like in use. There are several craft and souvenir shops in the Ottoman building of Hafza Sultan Caravanserai, which dates back to 1545.

Try the Atlantic Water Park in Marmaris with slides, rides and bowling among its many attractions for holiday goers.
