Brash, bold and bright, Los Cristianos is a popular Canaries beach resort and the kind of place that offers round the clock fun.

It excels when it comes to nightlife, making it a favourite Tenerife hotspot with young British holidaymakers. And during the day, there's plenty of beaches to laze around on whilst you get over your hangover. Affordable hotel and self catering accommodation suitable for families as well as couples, combined with ever decreasing air fares, makes this a good choice for a short haul sunshine break.

  • Getting There and Around Los Cristianos

There are plenty of flights to Tenerife from around the UK. Make sure you choose an airline flying to Tenerife South (Reina Sofia) airport, about 20 minutes drive from Los Cristianos, rather than the airport in the north of the island.

You can take the cheap TITSA bus from the airport terminal to Los Cristianos or a taxi. If you’re planning to hire a car for your holiday you can arrange to pick up your hire car here and save yourself some hassle. Prices are competitive as there are so many car rental companies on the island. Check out prices before you leave the UK. Pre-booking is worthwhile.

  • Beaches in Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos is a holiday resort which specialises in two things, partying and going to the beach. Los Cristianos has a fine, large, well-protected man-made beach which is excellent for children.

If the family fancy a bit of a splash around, then you might want to head for the excellent aqua park with its water slides and pools. It's just five minutes from Los Cristianos and there is a free shuttle from the resort to the water park. Don't miss the dolphin show.

  • Sightseeing in Los Cristianos

The most popular tourist attraction in Tenerife is Mount Teide, an inactive volcano. The lunar-like landscape around the mountain and the journey up to the summit can be made via cable car, or for the more physically fit, on foot.

Another favourite sightseeing spot for tourists in Tenerife is the Loro Parque, with its famous wildlife. It has tons of parrots, but also penguins, flamingos and even alligators. Pack your camera and plenty of film.

Why not spend a day wandering around the old capital of Tenerife, La Laguna? It's packed with historic monuments and interesting buildings and gives you a taste of Tenerife in times past. Don't miss the impressive cathedral.

For a day away from the bustle, the quiet bay of Los Gigantes is a beautiful area to swim, paddle and have a picnic. You can admire the "cliffs of the giants" from the resort and marvel at the sheer size of these natural coastal monsters.

  • Eating and Nightlife in Los Cristianos

There really is a corner of Tenerife that is just like home. Los Cristianos is ideal for holidaymakers that love British food and can't bear to leave it behind.

On every street corner there is a British pub or a café serving fish and chips. However, it's also worth sampling Spanish tapas, small plates of typical local dishes. Try the patatas bravas, potatoes with a spicy tomato sauce.

If you like bars and clubbing, then you have come to the right place - Los Cristianos offers plenty of choice. And if you get bored with the options here, you can spend an evening or two in neighbouring, Playa de las Americas, renowned for bars such as Linekers.

It's top of the charts with young British holidaymakers - expect noise, lights and lots of action.

  • Shopping and Family Attractions

Tenerife is famous for its lace and leather goods, but one of the big bonuses for keen shoppers is that the island is tax-free. Santa Cruz, the island's capital, has an excellent range of shops - try Plaza de Espana for browsing. For something a bit more unusual look out for colourful local pottery and jewellery from street stalls.

Did you think the only place with pyramids was Egypt? Think again. Whilst on holiday in Los Cristianos, check out the pyramids at Guimar and wonder at their origins. There's a museum to help you unravel its history.

A watery option for all the family is to spend a day enjoying the delights of the Lago Martinez, a man-made lake filled with sea water. There are plenty of pools to choose from with three dedicated for children. The Lago is beautifully designed too. Pack plenty of towels and sunscreen.
